We’re updating…
Today we’re rolling out an updated version of Encounter for both iPhone and Android users. The update includes our most user-requested feature, a delete function for your journal entries. Update Encounter to 1.2.0, then look for the ‘trashcan’ icon and tap it to remove an entry from your nature journal, including any photos and tags associated with it. If your phone doesn’t prompt you to update the app, go to the App Store or Play Store to do it manually.
There are lots more improvements in the pipeline, including saving video and audio clips with your journal entries. We know from your emails that that’s something you’d like, so we’ll get on to it as soon as we can.
This week’s update also includes some bug fixes and changes we had to make to comply with upcoming alterations to Google Maps. Please note: if your phone is running Android 8 or below, or iOS 15 or below, you won’t be able to install the new version of Encounter unless you update your operating system. However, the current version will continue to work.
You may also notice that some user-requested species and natural phenomena have been added to the database: thank you for all your suggestions. If you encounter something in Britain and Ireland and find you can’t tag it in your journal, you can email species@encounter-nature.com. Please note that with a couple of exceptions we are unable currently to cover garden plants (ie, non-wild or naturalised).
If you’re enjoying using Encounter, please do spread the word: tell your friends and family, and if you have a moment, leave us a review in the App Store or Google Play Store. Thank you so much, it really helps.
